Well it turns out that the house was snatched up before we were able to do anything. Pretty upset as we both fell in love with that house. Oh well.

New homebuyers to get $8,000 cash back First-time buyers can claim a credit worth $8,000 – or 10% of the home’s value, whichever is less – on their 2008 or 2009 taxes. Now we just need to make this happen before the year is up.
