Journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) and rebellious computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) team up to investigate the unsolved disappearance of wealthy Henrik Vanger’s (Sven-Bertil Taube) teen niece (Ewa Fröling), only to uncover dark secrets about Vanger’s powerful family. Niels Arden Oplev directs this Swedish thriller based on the first novel from Stieg Larsson’s best-selling trilogy.

Pretty good movie, even despite the less-than-believable tech-hacker stuff.

Looking forward the rest of this trilogy.

In the world of this sci-fi thriller set in the not-too-distant future, artificial organs are readily available to anybody with a credit card. But what happens if a buyer falls delinquent on his payments? Jude Law stars as an organ repo man who’s now fleeing his ex-partner after failing to keep up the payments on his own recently installed ticker. Miguel Sapochnik directs; Forest Whitaker and Liev Schreiber co-star.

Meh.. decent movie.

The ending was kind of a surprise to me.

In 1936, young German climbers Toni Kurz (Benno Fürmann) and Andreas Hinterstoisser (Florian Lukas) face off against a rival Austrian duo in an attempt to be the first team to scale the infamous north face of the Eiger in the Swiss Alps. As the men make the treacherous climb, journalist Luise (Johanna Wokalek) — Toni’s childhood love — covers the biggest story of her career. Philipp Stölzl helms this drama based on a true story.

Tragic, sad, more-or-less predictable, yet still a nail biting of a movie.

Definitely worth the watch!

Bank clerk John Skillpa (Cillian Murphy) hides a disturbing past from everyone in small-town Peacock, Neb. When a train jumps the tracks and crashes into John’s backyard, his neighbors discover a confused woman named Emma milling about. They rush to aid the woman they assume is John’s wife, but their efforts prompt John to descend into psychosis. Only Maggie (Ellen Page), a young mother, seems to know the truth behind his bizarre behavior.

Not at all what I had expected, but pleased none-the-less.

Completely unpredictable… which is nice.

Parking attendant and New York Giants fanatic Paul Aufiero (Patton Oswalt) must reexamine his life after he’s beaten up by his favorite player in this comedy written and directed by Robert D. Siegel, a former editor-in-chief of “fake news” paper The Onion. Also starring Kevin Corrigan as Sal, Michael Rapaport as Philadelphia Phil and Marcia Jean Kurtz as Theresa, the film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The wife thought I was nuts for wanting to see this… I don’t get into football.

Both of us were pleasantly pleased with this.

Hoping that his novel brings him fame and fortune, high school loner Benjamin Purvis (Michael Angarano) attends a fantasy writers conference and later discovers that his masterwork has been plagiarized by an iconic author (Jemaine Clement, “Flight of the Conchords”). Sam Rockwell, Jennifer Coolidge and Mike White also star in this quirky comedy from co-writer-director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre).

Wow… horrible.

Campy, Kitschy, everything most cheesy sci-fi movies are… only this manages to present as if under a microscope.

Worth seeing if you hate life, humans, or both.

Claire Danes stars as Temple Grandin, a brilliant young woman coping with the stigma of autism at a time when it was misunderstood. With the support of her loving family, Temple dedicates herself to learning and becomes a famed animal behaviorist. Temple’s passion for animals gives her a unique ability to understand them, and she fulfills her love of education by teaching about autism and the most humane ways to treat both livestock and pets.

An excellent movie.

I’ve heard Ms. Grandin on NPR (Terry Gross/Fresh Air) before, and when I heard about this movie, I was really looking forward to it.
